As you may already know, this catchy tune was an Internet phenom. It is also responsible for the most visited essay in Docudharma history: I KNEW he was Irish!* by ctrenta.
On the link above you will find an earlier version of the song – it has more than 500,000 views on YouTube. A few days ago the band, Hardy Drew and the Nancy Boys, contacted us and requested that we update with the new version (same as the one above) in honor of O’Bama’s victory.
As for our traffic, the graph below shows the number of daily visitors over the last 30 days. I did this screen capture from SiteMeter at 2 PM today (11/07/08). The dotted line shows our average visits for a few months prior (around 700-800/day). On Oct 22nd I started noticing a big increase in the number of visits on our site. The bulk of the traffic is going to ctrenta’s essay. This peaked the day after election day and is still generating thousands of page views. I am astounded.

Crazy in Alabama II: Pony Party
This next set of pictures were all taken in Selma Alabama. I was there on a Sunday so of course it was going to be quiet with church and then football but it bothered me that a place that represents such a historic moment in the civil rights movement is clearly a bit economically depressed and while there were momuments near the bridge I almost got the idea that people wanted to forget it all ever happened. Which in my opinion really represents the mindset of many white southerners ( not all ) “Oh we had that nasty civil rights movement almost as bad as the War of Northern Agression, thank God that unpleasantess is over….”

I just loved this plaque inidcating that Lafayette was “entertained” in Selma. Obvious I want to know exactly what kind of entertainment was provided.

Pony Party: Crazy in Alabama
I went to Alabama last weekend.
This is just a long ass driveway….
Even the cats ride four wheelers in rural Alabama….
And the chickens….
Everybody has an old car or two setting around….
And hunting dogs, this guy hunts ducks….
My MIL’s pretty chickens, the one standing apart is a pet named Lucille. Lucille gets all kind of scraps and it freaked me the fuck out that Lucille ate some ham scraps. I said to her,”please don’t feed that chicken some chicken and turn her into a cannibal.”
She thought that was quite funny. I actually suspect she thinks I am very, very, weird.
My BIL doing some welding on some broken tool making equipment for my spouse whose major hobby is making knives. My BIL is six foot six and has hands the size of footballs. He is a bit crippled up from football and is a easy going guy but I think one would still not want to start a bar fight with him and he is fifty-five. He looked very elegant doing the work.
