New Bin Laden video appears on 9/11 anniversary: CNN

| WASHINGTON (AFP) – A new video purportedly featuring Al-Qaeda chief Osama bin Laden appeared on the Internet Tuesday, the sixth anniversary of the September 11 attacks on the United States, CNN reported.
The video shows a still image of Bin Laden with a voice identified as his praising September 11 hijacker Walid al-Shehri, who was aboard American Airlines Flight 11 which crashed into the World Trade Center, it said. The authenticity of the video was not immediately confirmed, the television network said, adding that the video did not appear to show any moving images of Bin Laden. |
Note- this is a second video, not the one from last week.

Sharif deported from Pakistan

| ISLAMABAD, Pakistan – Former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif was deported Monday hours after he had landed in Pakistan from seven years in exile hoping to campaign against the country’s U.S.-allied military ruler, officials said.
About four hours after he arrived on a flight from London, Sharif was taken into custody and charged with corruption, but then quickly spirited to another plane and flown out of Pakistan toward Jeddah in Saudi Arabia, an intelligence official said. An official in President Gen. Musharraf’s office confirmed Sharif was deported but did not divulge his destination. |

Messing with your minds.
I have changed exactly 2 settings tonight.
I’ve changed the Blox headers to OTB Maroon.
This echos the maroon in the eyes
I’ve changed the blockquote background to a very light yellow, hopefully echoing the gold of the Buddha while evoking our Revolutionary Blue and Patriot Buff.
It’s very contrasty, but I can hear the fifes and drums marching.
We could maybe go a little golder.

Over at the Admin site, Turkana wrote this-
maybe it’s time we discuss how to deal with i/p. otherwise, we’ll have an israel-bashing diary on the rec list, every day, and the same poison that infects every site where these people take their hatred. i wish there was a button to prevent a diary from going rec list. any ideas?
To which buhdy’s response was-

If someone does something we don’t like, let’s have a short convo here to define it….and them tell them about it!

This is an Open Thread but it’s very important you don’t promote or recommend it.
The concept is that like Booman’s Frog Pond or TDS/TCR this be visible in the ‘Recent Diaries’ list for people who want to participate for a limited time.
There are going to be three chances-
* 9 am (mega slacker)
* 12 Noon (slacker)
* 6 pm (now)
If that is not enough punishment we will increase the level of abuse.
I thought we were here for an argument.
