The Chilcot Inquiry restarts today, The second round of hearings will run from 29 June to 30 July 2010. Live streamed testimony once again when they do. No one knows if they’ll be releasing all or part of the transcripts etc. as to their visit here and talking to some of the previous administrations insiders, all lower level. Apparently they’re still talking to the Americans most close to the needs of the British Inquiry into Iraq.

This first is a cut of one I just posted, elsewhere, to show at least a little of what has been going on. But as to this agency I have added just a few, and there’s plenty more, links to how the previous administration as well as the republican controlled congresses nearly gutted OSHA, but it isn’t only OSHA as we’ve seen as to regulations and the countries well being, they had eight plus years to nearly destroy everything about this once envied country and it’s innovations, workforce and research etc.!

This all isn’t only about the oil industry, we’ve been witness to the across the whole spectrum of disastrous policies that went on or were suppressed, veterans, the banking, wall street, auto with recalls, food with recalls and so much more, all to the benefit of the few at the top and those they allow to join their club as the majority, those that do the work, are suppressed and controlled with fear and many follow the meme’s given to lay the blame away from those who actually caused the destructions!

At a time prior to one of the so called great powers on this planet decided it wanted to control.

Photos Of Afghanistan’s Past: Modernity Lost

June 18, 2010 The Afghanistan of Mohammad Qayoumi’s memory is far from that of a “broken 13th century country,” as it was recently described by British Defense Secretary Liam Fox.

Qayoumi, now a university president in America, grew up in Kabul in the 1950s and ’60s. It was a period of calm and prosperity – and even optimism – before the Soviet invasion.

And thanks to a batch of vintage photos, Qayoumi has opened a window into that world with a photo essay recently published in Foreign Policy. The images depict a world that is slick, modern – even Western.

The photos show women in demure scarves, but also in pencil skirts and other fashions of the 1950s and ’60s. And just as striking is what some of the women are doing: buying records. Back then, Qayoumi tells NPR’s Deborah Amos, Afghans favored songs by Western pop singers like Frank Sinatra, Elvis Presley and Tom Jones.

The Star Tribune in Minneapolis, MN has been running another series of investigative journalism, this one on gun running from Minnesota to Mexico.
