The Dems Botched the Joke, NOT John Kerry
posted at dKos
——————
Let’s try to dispatch this now. John Kerry did not make a gaffe. He said something with which many Dems agreed. And yet when the press started to say it was a gaffe, what did we do? We turned tail and ran from John Kerry. We did the same four years before to Howard Dean with his scream.
It isn’t the press. It’s our willingness to let the press define us. Aren’t you tired of it? I am. Exceedingly tired of it. And you knnow something else. I’m beginning to think this: we are weak. We don’t have enough guts or smarts to stop playing a game dictated by the other-fucking-side.
Do you get what i’m telling you???? Because you should. It’s time to stop this behavior of children. One of the few real men on the political stage, John Kerry, was pushed off by what my friend ek calls whiny ASS titty babies…

PONY PARTY… may the horse be with you
Several years ago, Golf Digest
gave the odds of an amateur getting
a hole-in-one as 1 in 12,750
As Bill in Portland Maine would say :::::: swoosh :::::::
Blind Woman Hits Historic Hole-In-One (CBS/AP) LEHIGHTON, Pa. Sheila Drummond didn’t need to see her hole-in-one. She heard it. Drummond, blinded by diabetes 26 years ago, experienced the highlight of her golfing career Sunday, recording an ace on the 144-yard, par-3 fourth hole at Mahoning Valley Country Club. Drummond is a member of the board of directors of the United States Blind Golfers Association (USGBA), and the organization believes she is the first totally blind female to record a hole-in-one. “We’ve looked everywhere, and haven’t been able to find anyone else,” she said. Drummond took up golf about 15 years ago, and three years later qualified as the first female member of the USGBA. She carries a 48 handicap. |

PONY PARTY… a.m. driving to work edition, pardners
I don’t think there is anything worse than being stuck in traffic. There’s nothing worse than being behind a Sunday driver on a Monday morning in rush hour. In the left lane of a four lane highway. Coming up to lights with BIG trucks in front of both lights.
Or driving to the beach for a glorious week… dreams smashed as your everyday world anger and frustrations exlode, full blown, sitting in the car, in traffic…and your older car threatening to overheat. And then, and i really loved this, having my ex husband tell: BE HERE NOW.
Be… here… now… BE HERE NOW? No no no… you don’t understand. I don’t want to be here NOW…
You gotta pet peeve. Throw it out there… come on… pony it UP…

writing in the raw: the touch
I’m listening to a musician, new to me. Sam Prekop… heard his music playing as i passed by a small shop. i walked in and asked… who is that. Sam Prekop. Oh.
So now i’m listening to Who’s Your New Professor. I love it. I love the acoustic guitar. And the acoustic piano. The tone… the depth of the music. And listening, i hear the electric elements there too. but it is the acoustic parts that are warmest, most intimate.

PONY PARTY… your favorite things (like ponies)
My Favorite Things
Raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens;
Bright copper kettles and warm woolen mittens;
Brown paper packages tied up with strings;
These are a few of my favorite things.
Cream-colored ponies and crisp apple strudels;
Doorbells and sleigh bells and schnitzel with noodles;
Wild geese that fly with the moon on their wings;
These are a few of my favorite things.
Girls in white dresses with blue satin sashes;
Snowflakes that stay on my nose and eyelashes;
Silver-white winters that melt into springs;
These are a few of my favorite things.
When the dog bites,
When the bee stings,
When I’m feeling sad,
I simply remember my favorite things,
And then I don’t feel so bad.

PONY PARTY… remembering a Tuesday unlike any other
Six years ago… our world changed. We had no idea how much it would change. We didn’t know then that so many thousands and tens of thousands of lives would be lost and destroyed. We didn’t know about New Orleans. Or polar bears drowning. We didn’t know about sub prime loans or surges. Firefighters, cops, rescue workers, and others sick from ground zero… we did not know.
We just had no idea. That there would be, on a perfectly beautiful Tuesday morning, two tall buildings falling down… ashes ashes we all fall down…
We did not know. That for six years hence, sleep would come without rest.
Here’s a recording of “Fragile” made by Sting on that very day.

Final thoughts on look and feel
Have to say it was a surprise to see the maroon blox, but when OTB changed the banner, they worked great!!! And the color of the eyes with the maroon, and both the dark and light blues now all work well together… here are two things i thought of about the banner: make the sky dark blue and see if there isn’t some reddish gases swirling faintly somewhere… and spread the blue over the keyboard, as it is in the left of the picture… then i think it’s captured and is in harmony with the other elements on the page… one last thing… is there anyway to soften the bottom edge of the banner? LoE knows what i mean, i think
0. The line default line separating main from extended text: i would flush left it as well as have more space between the line and the main and extended text…you can see it here… it just hangs there and has NO relationship to anything… you may want to just make a thin maroon line the length of the column to divide…but that line in the middle doesn’t always hit center, depending on how paragraphs break
1. First line of essay need more space between it and the link above it:
[subject promote]
Every time Osama bin Laden’s vile visage reappears on America’s television screens,
2. Same with the last sentence of the essay, which needs space between it and the tags line:
possibility anymore?

PONY PARTY… it’s an OPEN CORRAL, i mean forum
You know, I only have so much material. To be entertaining that is. You know how I found this out? Babysitting my nephew. When he was around 3-years-old. A three-year-old knows everything and everything they know is correct. Did you know that? It’s true.
But I am limited and finite. And so was my ability to sing songs, play with blocks, talk funny, and make up stories. It was humbling, I have to admit, to know I could only go toe-to-toe with a toddler for about an hour and a half… at most.
The kid did teach me some things, though. He helped me to forget being a grown up when I was with him. He helped me to remember lots of kid stuff in general… songs i used to sing and books i used to love. And he gave me something hard to explain: the understanding that giving is a completing act.
Love that kid and his brother… the baby of our family will be my next story… what are your babysitting stories???
