No Coin Out My Pocket
While Jefferson coined the phrase, “But it does me no injury for my neighbor to say there are twenty gods or no God. It neither picks my pocket nor breaks my leg;” in reference to religion, I have often applied this pearl to systems of economics. Getting a man to change his house in economics is on par with changing his god(s). I watch with bemusement at both, because no can really affect me, but someone must keep notes on their effects.
I have watched this looting long enough. I knew it was looting before George A. Akerlof, co-winner of the Nobel Prize in economic sciences, said, “What we have here is a form of looting.”
I knew the last loot to go down was suppose to be regional banks and credit unions. Their backs broken to a point the large multinationals could just gobble them right up. With a trifecta of zero savings rates, subprime and contractor loans coupled with a bursting of the real estate bubble.
Just take a gander at last years propaganda, here’s Bernanke, show his baboon arse per usual:
Bernanke expects bank failures
Friday, February 29, 2008
http://www.washingtontimes.com…
Mr. Bernanke expressed confidence there would be no bank failures as recently as last week, so his change of tune yesterday suggests that he recently became aware of banks whose solvency is threatened by what he characterized as a widening credit “crisis.”
“There probably will be some bank failures,” he said, though they are likely to be among smaller regional banks that are particularly exposed to falling property markets.
Wall Street markets, which swooned on Mr. Bernanke’s remarks about banks yesterday, have focused on the health of the biggest banks and investment houses, such as Citicorp, J.P. Morgan, Bank of America and Merrill Lynch, which cumulatively have reported more than $150 billion in losses. Despite their monumental troubles, Mr. Bernanke said he thinks the large banks have enough reserves and capital to avoid failure.
“I don’t anticipate any serious problems of that sort among the large, internationally active banks that make up a very substantial part of our banking system,” he said.
I love that Bernanke still has a job. He could not have been more wrong. But that is what was suppose to happen, until a horrible truth was discovered. By the very ideals of capitalism, the regional banks were worth more, and actually had advantage over the large, internationally active banks.
See, regional banks had these things called “assets” that weren’t invented and based on fantasy land values. Sure, the multinationals had a lot of commercial paper that said they were billionaires, but that paper was intrinsically worthless. The only reason it had value was because the multinational banks said they did, and no one is taking them seriously anymore.
Regional banks at least had local deposits, even the safe deposit boxes held more value than firms like Bears & Sterns. Because all they and people like Goldman Sachs did was put a pretty letterhead on a bucket.
It’s not like this hasn’t happened before, it use to be felony actually.
Book Shops
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/B…
Bucket shop is a brokerage firm that “books” (i.e., takes the opposite side of) retail customer orders without actually having them executed on an exchange.[1] These brokerages are also often called boiler rooms. The term is a defined term under the criminal law of many states in the United States which make it a crime to operate a bucket shop. [2]
Typically the criminal law definition refers to an operation in which the customer is sold what is supposed to be a derivative interest in a security or commodity future, but there is no transaction made on any exchange. The transaction goes ‘in the bucket’ and is never executed. Without an actual underlying transaction, the customer is betting against the bucket shop operator, not participating in the market.
Operating a bucket shop would also likely involve violations of several provisions of US federal securities or commodity futures laws[3].
This all changed when Clinton unsigned the Glass-Steagall Act of 1933 on a golf course in 1999.
This amazing was legal again, and the tricks of the bucket shops, under the letterhead of the finest financial institutions in the world, these ruses where hidden in legality of commercial paper, and sold to suckers across the world. At no time were these derivatives of derivatives based on a real security or commodity, none of this was fair market value.
Did you know there were derivatives based on whether another derivative would make money based on if a loan was paid off or not? That’s not a security, that’s a bet.
And guess what certain firms did when they realized the loan would not be paid back? That’s right, they sold their own derivatives short. All of this was suppose to create enough “wealth” to gobble up the regional banks, like the hungry hungry hippos that multinationals are.
But it didn’t happen, and now everyone is acting shocked that these big international banks are not easing up the short-term credit system! Of course they aren’t, this is their last chance to cripple regional banks. With the Federal Reserve and the multinationals withholding cash, choosing to reinvest in themselves and unable expand to the regional level, the system will never correct itself.
Lord only knows where that bailout money really went, to bad we can’t put a stop payment on the check.
And for the sake that is all good and proper, do not Nationalize the banks, as I seen proposed more recently. America can’t just change her house economically overnight, because the last thing I want is the Federal Reserve closer to the mint controls. What needs to happen is a natural correction based on movements of the free market.
The big internationals must be allowed to fail, especially those who do not have a commercial bank people actually have money with. Them fools, them owner of bucketshops, them bums.
Kick them to the street.
Do not make them Caesar.

Metatemporally, it might be time to retire pinche tejano
Ah meta characters, your mmorpg entity for the internet. If you do it properly, the data cloud meta itself. Rarely do I write in the person, but today I came to bury pinche tejano, and definitely not to praise his ass.
Pinche tejano was a character made up of mixture of bad ass cowboys of my youth and a blend of some other creole expats I knew in Mexico. He was an ass, and smart, which made him a smartass. He was perfect for the Double-Oughts, when anyone with a lick of intelligence was amazed by the overwhelming colourfast of stupidity happening all around us.
The next phase in America will not be stupid, but could be savvy in a most unwelcomed of ways. That requires a different meta character than a dick of a Texan, and it may require a differnt medium. Who the fuck really knows.
All I know is throwing cocktails around under you start fires of banality has proved fruitless. Entertaining, yes, but fruitless.
Pinche had a good career, he talked massive amounts of bullshit. There’s good nuggets here and there. He had a great time starting village fires in Narajastan. Which brings up an interesting metamoral question.
Am I banned from Daily Kos, or is Pinche Tejano?
It also calls into question the deviation curve of investment of the users in their mmorpg characters on the internet. What amount are writing completely in character to those who write under their own name based in real-life reality? What is the population density of each point of this spectrum?
I put pinche tejano at 90% in character, 10% me in reality. Does this mean 10% of me is banned from Daily Kos?
Another important question is the amount of investment a person feels versus the investment of another user in an interaction. So a heavy reality user is slighted by a heavy character user, is that slight applicable in real life?
Since the heavy character is not the real person’s true intent, but that of their mmorpg, should they be held socially accountable?
Before they combine tv and the web, we really need to get these contemporary moral problems sorted. Or we will just half-ass it as humanity is prone to do.
Yeah, we will definitely half-ass it.
And pinche won’t be there to help make that so.
Been seeing you, bet on it.
And this is not a GBCW, it is character reclass decision.

My misgivings about Obama.
Yes, I was all about Obama in Texas, but that was just because I wanted to see if a half-black man could win the primary/caucus hodown in the Lone Star, which he did. For me, it was all about the historical moment, and there was no way I would support a Clinton after their fiasco in Waco. Hillary will always be a baby killer to me.
But now the dust has settled, I expected Obama to shift to middle, but I never expected him to sell out the social contract of the country.
Back in the day, I first gained notice of Obama when he ran as a state assembly man after a stint of Constitutional Law. I am a big fan of the Constitution, though most people view it as an outdated documented. Foolishly, I doubt Obama was a man who practiced what he preached.
The roots of damage and decay in our republic is that of the raise of a corporate state, where the rights and privilages of a the corporate entity now out ranks that of the private citizen. This is foolish beyond belief and will lead to our eventual ruin.
For about two generations now, the raise of the corporate state has slowly brought ruin to every strata of our society except the ruling elite, who, of course, control the ruling interests of the land.
It is the corporate state that disguises itself in other political norms so it will never lose power, a chameleon who changes as per the pendulum swings. Its only goal is to keep the true agenda for its own end, which is corporate profit over social good.
They care not who makes the law, as long as they control them.
I thought Obama was beyond their control, a firebrand riding the backs of the populace to power. But with his two revelations last week, concerning corporate accountability and the fund raising schemes of the camapaign, he showed that his faux progressivism was just a means to get the nomination, he never believed it.
He showed he would bend for his corporate paymasters, and allowed them to pay him for that favor.
It reminds me of Bush, who pretended to be a small government conservative, only to get in office to further corporate interests.
Obama, who pretended to be a progressive, is just using it further corporate interests when he gets elected.
Obama is just a corporate gate keeper, who comes from the left, crushing any hope we can break the cycle.
He is the final chapter of the death of the republic democracy, now kneel before our corporate masters.

More than 200 fallen US Soldiers cremated at Friends Forever Pet Cremation Service
So this off topic from my Pentagon dump, but is a pretty wild story in of itself. It seems in a cost cutting measure, US soldiers are being cremated at a facility meant for pets.
As the Friends Forever Pet Cremation Service says at their website:
http://www.foreverfriendspets….
As pet owners ourselves, we understand the need for a more dignified alternative when a beloved pet passes away.
If this wasn’t screwed up enough, Bush and the Pentagon viewing our soldiers as pets, they also sent friends and families to the pet crematorium for services!

Round One Finds in the Pentagon FOI Document Dump
http://www.dod.mil/pubs/foi/mi…
So I’ve been going through the Pentagon Document dump. I have to give it to the Defense Department, they know how to bury stuff. Of course none of this is indexable, being jpgs contained in PDF. Luckily there are orc sorters and what I have found is that a certain obscure PDF has a lot of chunky goodness in it.
Well, not goodness, maybe that last chunk of evil from Time Bandits.
Anywho, I found some interesting items I would like to share.

Quit tearing the party apart!
I knew it would come to this one day, because one side was so stubborn and the other side was feeling rejected. Maybe this rift can be filled one day, but right now, there is only pain and hurt. Makes one wonder how it all came down to this.
That’s right, al-Qaida and Iran have irreconcilable differences, they are tearing their Axis of Evil apart.
http://www.breitbart.com/artic…
The increasing enmity toward Iran is a notable change of rhetoric from al-Zawahri, who in the past rarely mentioned the country-apparently in a hopes he would be able to forge some sort of understanding with Tehran based on their common rivalry with the United States. Iran has long sought to distance itself from al-Qaida.
“Al-Zawahri wanted to work with Iran, but he’s deeply disappointed that Iran has not cooperated with al-Qaida,” said Rohan Gunaratna, a terrorism expert and author of “Inside al-Qaida: The Global Network of Terror.”
So now, al-Zawahri “wants to appeal to the anti-Shiite, anti-Iran sentiments in the Arab and Muslim world,” said Gunaratna, head of the International Center for Political Violence and Terrorism Research in Singapore.
Al-Zawahri appeared intent on exploiting widespread worry in the Arab world over Iran’s influence, particularly in Iraq, to garner support for al-Qaida. At the same time, he sought to denigrate Iran’s ally Hezbollah, which has gained some popularity even among Sunnis in the region for its fight against Israel.
But in many of his answers, al-Zawahri went out of his way to criticize Iran. He said the Iraqi insurgent umbrella group led by al- Qaida, called the Islamic State of Iraq, is “the primary force opposing the Crusaders (the United States) and challenging Iranian ambitions” in Iraq.
Great, al-Zawahri plays the race card. Way to turn the Arabs against the Persians, asshole. This Jihad was suppose to be about ideas and policies, but here al-Zawahri goes back to the terrorism of old.
“Iran’s aim here is also clear-to cover up its involvement with America in invading the homes of Muslims in Afghanistan and Iraq,” he added. Iran cooperated with the United States in the 2001 U.S. assault on Afghanistan that toppled al-Qaida’s allies, the Taliban.
This campaign of dirty tricks has to end, you don’t go into Jihad as a people divided. You don’t see Iran bringing up Osama’s playboy youth or compassionate sane cleric.
Iran has never been in bed with America, while it is well know Osama was. Do you see Iran making obscure internet videos about that?
No. Because they are against tearing this party apart.
The rhetoric is a stark change for al-Zawahri, who in the past did not seek to exploit Shiite-Sunni tensions. When the former head of al- Qaida in Iraq, Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, was waging a campaign of suicide bombings against Shiites in Iraq, al-Zawahri sent messages telling him to stop, fearing it would hurt al-Qaida’s image.
This just goes to show al-Zawahri will stop at nothing to win this thing. He will flipflop, he will lie and he will ruin other members of the Axis of Evil for his own entitlement.
This was suppose to be a different Jihad, a Jihad about ideas. About policy. A Jihad where fanatical Muslim could walk hand in hand with other fanatical Muslims, regardless of sects, setting off each other’s suicide belts, showing the world what a terrorist party united can do.
al-Zawahri has ruined that hope, which is why he is the real Great Satan.

Report: Netanyahu says 9/11 terror attacks good for Israel
I mostly stay out of the great I/P debate, because I am a nation-state kind of guy. While I see cultural mandates for land based on history and tradition, I view the premises of nation-states being the key to stability in any region. Be it the Middle East, Africa or South Asia.
But when another nation-state, especially a former leader of that nation-state, comes out and says one of our national tragedies was of great benefit to them, I begin to wonder where their allegiance really lies. These are not the kind of statements allies make.
From Haaretz:
Report: Netanyahu says 9/11 terror attacks good for Israel
By Haaretz Service and Reuters
http://www.haaretz.com/hasen/s…
The Israeli newspaper Ma’ariv on Wednesday reported that Likud leader Benjamin Netanyahu told an audience at Bar Ilan university that the September 11, 2001 terror attacks had been beneficial for Israel.“We are benefiting from one thing, and that is the attack on the Twin Towers and Pentagon, and the American struggle in Iraq,” Ma’ariv quoted the former prime minister as saying. He reportedly added that these events “swung American public opinion in our favor.”
Every candidate, and American, should demand that Likud leader Benjamin Netanyahu apologize for his statements. How dare he dance on the corpses ashes of 9/11 to score cheap political points. How can he possibly cheer lead on this issue, one of the great tragedies in American history.
If Hugo Chavez had said this, we would be rolling tanks into Caracas by sundown. I hold the leaders of Israel to a high standard, which makes this even a lower blow.
Demand Netanyahu apologize, and demand your candidate denounce such rhetoric.

I am a bitter angry redneck liberal.
Okay, first off, shame on Hillary Clinton for wrapping herself so late in the game in the latest fashion of hard-working Americans. Shame on her for pretending she had to give a damn about the working class when she was shuffling off jobs overseas and cheerleading a bankruptcy bill for the socialized rich. And a special extra deep hearted jeer to her saying she now loves guns and God like she was George Allen.
I have long watched the Clintons lie with impunity, figuring you know, that’s just what politicians do. They lie. A lot. But when another politician, say Obama this time or Perot in the 90s, finally comes up and talks to America like adults and say some inconvient truths, that’s when the liars get to lying hardcore.
Now Hillary is all about steel barrels and gunpowder, when in the 90s she lead the Million Mom March against guns.
Now Hillary is all home spun craving to appear in potato sack dresses, when she is the very product and poster child of the Baby Boomer Entitled generation and has the upper crust of lobbyists and donors carrying her train of silk and tears around.
And now Hillary is demanding to be the moral compass of the country, when she regrets every major decision she has made in the Senate, be it war or economics. When Obama said that the countryside was bitter and grasped for guns and god, he was right. Because people like Hillary, and more so Bush, has failed them, and they grab for the last few things they can believe in. The power of the gun and the glory of God.
The reason there was a mass secularization in Europe over the last 30 years is because their government was competent and put the good of the people over the good of the upper class. The people in Europe realized they did not have to look to some mythical person in the clouds for security, they could provide it themselves, either economically, politically or health-wise.
It is politicians like Hillary Rodham Clinton who have stolen this from everyday Americans. If she wants to claim the 90s as her experience, then she must also claim the massive selling out of America to foreign interest of the 90s as well. If she wants to claim her time in the White House on her resume, then she must accept responsibility for the subprime crisis created under her husband. She can’t selective claim experience, she must accept accountability for Waco, the Iraq War, the Bankruptcy Bill and countless other acts during her time of “experience” which have made the countryside bitter.
That is why Hillary is screaming like a banshee about this comment by Obama, because she and her fellow upper class cronies have created the bitter environment most of the country must deal with. Hillary knows if people start connecting the economic and political dots, it will all lead back to her in one way or another. So she must yell “Elitist!”, other wise people might notice she is what she says, and that she is attacking with her greatest weakness, her sense of entitlement.
Obama told the truth, and Hillary decided to lie about it once again. But I have to give her credit, the way she has been running this campaign, I am surprised she didn’t say Obama was “uppity.”
Because that’s the racial code word Hillary is using here, “elitist” for “uppity”, and Clinton really wishes Obama would know his place, in the back of her campaign bus, or at least under it.

US Water Grid Collapsing
While bloggers spend in incessant amount of time politicing this and politicing that, the country is crumbling before our very eyes. The backbone of any nation-state is its infrastructure. While other countries have made huge advancements in their transportation and energy grid, our basic utilities are falling back to pre-industrial standards.
We all know about the bridge collapses, the zeitgeist of last summer. When that was no longer a great political football to kick around, it was largely forgotten. And of course, in true American fashion, nothing was done, except some well-lit photo ops of elected leaders pretending to give a damn.
What is more striking though, is not how our energy policy is archaic, but that our most basic need of all is about to fall into utter disrepair. We can go on forever without our horseless carriages, but we can’t live a few days without water.
Yes, water. Our entire national water grid is cracked, weathered and falling apart. All across the country the nation’s cities have aging delivery systems that are in need of desperate repairs. Most of these pipes and tunnels were built in the 1800s and have long passed even the most generous of life spans.
And we have done nothing, or saved up money, to correct this issue.
Again, we are taking about water. Not some frill or excess of the American Dream. Basic drinking water.
