Wolverine!
This is original to docudharma.
And so we have another general begging to send more troops to a foreign war. Apparently McCrystal doesn’t think we can finish the job with what we have there. All well and good, I suppose. I can’t imagine many generals not wanting more troops when their war isn’t going swimmingly.

An interesting visit to my blog!
So, I posted a story to my blog: Australian adviser to US military provides chilling insight into neo-colonial mentality. It wasn’t heavy on analysis, as the original article did that. BTW: It’s well worth the read.

Who is Richard Trumka?
Original article, subheaded AFL-CIO names new president, by Jerry White via World Socialist Web Site:
On Wednesday, John Sweeney, who has led the AFL-CIO since 1995, stepped down and was succeeded by his long-time lieutenant, Richard Trumka, who ran unopposed and was elected by delegates at the AFL-CIO convention in Pittsburgh.

Is Obama Dumping the Public Option?
Original article, by David Corn, via motherjones.com:
“It had better be wrong.”
That was the response of Representative Jerrold Nadler (D-NY) to Wednesday’s Politico story that the Obama White House, as it retools its strategy for health care reform, has no intention of fighting for the inclusion of a public option that would offer government-run health insurance to companies and people who can’t obtain affordable coverage elsewhere. And Jacob Hacker, a health policy expert who can be called the godfather of the public option, says, “The White House…has to be told in no uncertain terms that dropping the public plan is stupid and premature.”

Ted Kennedy as New Dealer?
article, by Louis Poyect, via The Unrepentent Marxist:
From an editorial in today’s Washington Post:
TED KENNEDY once said that his own legislative record was one he’d love to run against. A number of people tried, of course, and lost. But then, they weren’t Ted Kennedy. Mr. Kennedy spent 46 years in the Senate hewing pretty steadily to his course while others trimmed or just plain bailed out.
He remained committed to a brand of New Deal and postwar liberalism that, even when it had lost some of its luster and had run up against a conservative tide in politics, still had much to offer the country.
