Money is Made of Electrons and Neurotransmitters
Bonddad over at DKos has got it wrong about not being able to afford a war on Iran.
Money is not something with a physical limit at the hands of the Bush Maladministration, aided and abetted by their stooges, the US Federal Reserve Bank (the latter, answering to no one except “the market”).
Money today is made of electrons in computers, and those electrons are backed up by the thoughts in the heads of billions of people, with neurotransmitters and even more electrons bopping around inside their heads.

Vote Straight Republican Ticket in ’08
I’m calling it…it is time to destroy the Democratic Party.
Because only if it is destroyed can it be rebuilt into something in true opposition to the Republican Death-Profit machine (RDP it is now…no more GOP). Yep, the solution is vote straight Republican ticket, give them money, starve out Democratic candidates and kill the DC Democratic machine. It has to go away. It doesn’t stand for anything except its own stall at the trough of the military-industrial complex. Yes it can make progressive noises and it can march down the street with the right banners. But when it matters…when it really matters…there is no practical difference between the “two” parties in DC. And spare me the B.S. about “we don’t have enough votes in the House or Senate” Steny Hoyer spit-in-your-face brand of appeasement politics.

US Snipers Use “Bait” to Attract Kills
Oh yeah this is just great. Evidently there is some kind of “classified” program where US snipers in Iraq will put out objects like weapons and detonation cord in the street, and then shoot whoever picks it up.
Well Good God people, if I were an Iraqi father and I saw a weapon or blasting caps in the street where some kids would pick them up and get hurt, you are damn right I would go pick that stuff up to get rid of it…
Except in BushCo’s Iraq…you get your brains blown out for being a good citizen and looking after the neighborhood kids.
Where in the hell did my country go?

Building Resilient Communities, Round 2: Solar Ovens
Hey kids, I’ve got an idea. Let’s build resilient communities!
When the power and the natural gas go out in a disaster, or a Long Emergency…how ya gonna cook?
Try Solar Cooking!
A resilient community is a place where accidents, disasters, tragedies, traumas, and other disruptive events can be handled as well as can be expected, given competent preparation. Yes, bad things will happen. Yes, some tragedies and damages can’t be undone. But with a little foresight and creativity, the process of getting back to normal quickly, and helping everyone out around you in the process…well, this can be easier (and more reliable) than waiting for FEMA or the Red Cross to show up!
I think the way resilient communities might be built is by a community process. That is, no one like me should come along and describe, design, or dictate what a resilient community should or must have or do. Instead, I would like to adopt the way of emergent creativity from the action of a large collective of intelligent motivated agents (that’s you all, reading this, and contributing).

Country Doctoring: How Everyone Got Access to Medical Care in My Community
“We’ve got a house call.”
That’s what my Dad would say…usually late at night, sometimes even waking me up. He was a country doctor, among other things. Let me tell you some stories from my childhood about making housecalls with my Dad, who treated everyone the same, and paid a price for it in the Jim Crow South of the 1950’s and 60’s.
He was dead set against “socialized medicine” but he was so close to it I guess he didn’t see that what he was doing was socialized medicine at its purest, primitive form. Everybody got basic to intermediate medical treatment, whatever race, creed, color, income level, or social status.
Please enjoy!

Dharmathon ! ! !
Hey kids…I got a big favor to ask. Actually, maybe not such a big favor when you think about it.
You know buhdydharma? That guy that’s been the nucleating agent over the last few years of Essential DKos Community Spirit, an Energizing Force for Good, and All-around Pony-giving Dude, Morale Officer, and Help to Newbies? You know that guy who has written countless witty and inspiring diaries, rallied to numerous causes, bucked up more down-in-the-dumps cowpokes, and been there for you on your comment list when no one else showed up…and no doubt been responsible for attracting more than his fair share of ad-revenue generating clicks to DKos?
Well, Let’s Help a Brother Out…It’s a Dharmathon ! ! !
More below this electronic substitute for an actual fold in piece of paper, as it were.
