If I was running this conspiracy…

You know, the worst part of the Bush-Cheney cabal is how poorly it is ran. It use take years to sheer away layers of the hidden hand onion till you got to the teary filled truth. But with Bush Redux, it takes about five minutes. This is no way to run a conspiracy. If this really was an agenda for a permanent majority of capitalist plutocrats, then this is what would happen.

First off, you have to knee-cap all the ones who brought you, which has been done with Rove and Gonzo, and countless other Bush Administration officials. Now they are in the fourth quarter, they need someone with pure balls to take this game into a never-ending overtime. Enter Michael Chertoff, who even looks like an agent of Satan.

Some thoughts

thinking about blogging the future… and just decided to throw some stuff out

blogging the future tense
blogging the fourth wall
breaking the fourth wall
blogging the salon
thread bare
blogging the navel
blogging the gate
extreme blogging

i don’t know why i’m doing this because, while i LOVE titles, i am not good at them (or headlines)

but i love when two or three words can knock me on my ass

I think this bear’s repeating.

The Dawn of the Information Age and DailyKos
by pinche tejano

Wed Aug 09, 2006 at 12:01:28 PM PST

I remember when I first came by here, it was off a link from Buzzflash!, which is still in my daily news rotation. Back then; I made the daily rounds of everything from Little Green Footballs to Crooks and Liars and the always the amusing Drudgereport. See, I plan to be a historical writer when I get long in the tooth, and I was looking for something, I just did not know what it was yet. I could see a subset of the Internet evolving into something, put since it did not exist yet, I could not put my finger on it. Then I came across DailyKos.

Arriving just before the post-Katrina user explosion, I gladly signed up and was assigned user 60118, and I recently heard DKos was about to break 100,000, which probably has happened during the epic CT-Senate week. It is said week that I was waiting for, because I have a good eye for picking horses, and I knew this is where Dkos was headed. Remember this day, this week my friends, because you, as community, have finally got your foot in the gate. Always knew you would. You, as a community, have combined all the right parts to make something special.

Scheduling

Welcome to a brand new day.

Pooties

Ek said we have to have pooties. It’s time this blog got serious.

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

Feral cat warming itself on a spotlight at Trajan’s Markets on a frigid winter afternoon.

Huh?

So what is this place, and why are there dragons and tigers and horses on the banner?

And I’m looking at the folks here and I find this is a motley crew of sarcastic overly enthusiastic over the hill kossacks (and armando) and I see this slogan about “blogging the future” like maybe someone has a time machine or something?

And we have to use html and there’s all this talk about schedules and times and mission statements and rating systems that are all ponies and pies and hidden secret stuff.

Team Meta Meat

A request!

A suggestion!

A toothless demand!

A threat to hold my breath!

But NOT a rebuke!!!!!!!!!!!!

Can we keep non meta essays (yay to essays replacing ‘diaries,’ btw) off the FP for now? I know everyone wants to play with our new toy….but….

I am still recruiting, so new folks are still coming in. We have a LOT of meta stuff to work out. So I would LIKE to keep the FP focussed on that kind o stuff and keep the non meta stuff in the recent list.

There is a box under other options on the essay writin’ page to determine if it is an FP post or a recent list post.

But that’s just me. I have a bit of an anti-TOO much chaos fetish. It is a weakness you all will need to beat out of me. I am almost always willing to be overruled.

What say you?

We are trying for consensus decision making here. Which brings us to …

POLLS

Polls will be very important here and I URGE folks to put them up and to vote in them as much as possible.

Even if you just barely care please vote in as many as possible.

Jefferson was the first one to say that representative govt. only works if people show up….so show up!

Polls

melvin’s statement of intent re: Docudharma

The dirty hippies at Lawrence Livermore tell me that global warming is costing us now, and in the past few years, $5 billion annually in lost production of cereal grains alone.

Consider: esteemed public research institutions are tallying and analyzing the losses, monetary and otherwise, that have already been caused by global warming, and we still have idiots in the Senate that deny its reality.

Politics be damned for the sideshow and fool’s game that it is. Reality is elsewhere.

Thirty, fifty years after it emerged as an issue in scientific discourse, global warming has finally made it into public awareness.

So Say We All

I’m trying to organize the kind of meta conversations we should be having so we can set up a really polished and productive site.

On the Bus’ Invocation, budhy’s Mission Statement, and Turkana’s Structure have sparked a lot of agreement as you would expect from such a like-minded group.

Below the fold I’m going to post some things that should be conventional wisdom.

So say we all.

Just to say hello

Woke up this morning to see message from Buhdy, so I came over here and set up an account.

Am quite busy this morning, and am not working on a diary for today (although if you go read the Derrick Jackson in today’s Boston Globe he explains how dog fighting is only part of the abuses – he used to own a rescued greyhound).

Congratulation on getting the site up, and I will keep an eye on it.  And I will post when I can, but this is not only a new school year – it is soccer season and it elections for Virginia General Assembly.

Peace.
