(noon. – promoted by ek hornbeck)
Hey who wants to work up a cool banner? UPDATE! Done! Yay! Thank you, On The Bus!!
Okay Part One of the brainstorming of this was here yesterday. I’m picking up with Part Deux today to give everyone a week’s notice in advance, and get into some details. Don’t worry, it’s not that big of a deal, it’s just my OCD showing. heh.
DD Writers Jam Fest… a five days Docudharma exclusive (!) Writer’s… uhm … focus group? no… er, Workshop? well, sorta, maybe. Free For All? hmmm, yah.
Okay the main thing we’ve agreed to do is a Round Robin. We’ll see if some of the other stuff comes together…. it’s up to us, you. Shake it up in the comments.
DATES: Wed through Sunday, August 12 – 16th, 2009
WHERE: Here, mostly, but also in your Brain, CPU or Journal
WHO: You. Everybody. Dharmanoids. Whoever wants in, jump in (as long as you play nice). You don’t have to be a “Writer”, no ID card or credentials art the door required. No Registration Fees either
HOSTED BY: moi but it’s a community thing
REWARDS? PRIZES? MEGA BONUSES? Er, no. Free ponies though!
So what’s this Round Robin thing? Fun. Da Rulz below. Well. I forgot where I was for a minute. “Rules” are just the standard issue Rules of Docudharma: “be excellent to each other”. The rest (below) is more like Guidelines really.
Round Robin… Pretty simple. Spontaneous. We’ll figure it out as we go. I think I’ll go ahead with One A Day, they will be ongoing, open ended. No end time imposed. But, if you missed it or came in too late, there’s a new one on the way the next day. I’ll give them a theme or kick-off sentence or even a pic maybe of some kind. PLEASE drop me an email if you have an opening line or kick off to suggest!
Okay, thats really the Main Attraction. Any of the rest of this is just… ideas. I’ll toss it out now so you have a week to think or work on any of it. (And if this aspect fizzles, that’s okay too.)
Anyone who has the inclination and knowledge can post their own Essay at any point, just put DD Writers Jam Fest in the title or tags. You can… write about Writing any way you want.
AUGUST 12, Wednesday (Day One): I will post an Introduce Yourself Essay, or something like that.
Ongoing (five days):
Feel free to post anything you like… your fiction, poems, etc.
Also, an Essay on a topic of your choosing, if you have brilliance to share.
I myself would love to see someone talk about any of these ideas … (this is really just free random blast-off ideas out of my head)
* “So. You Wanna Be A Writer?” Don’t we all…?
* “Resources for Writers” … web sources, online courses or tubes? self -publishing? Would be mostly pointing readers to links.
* “Writing versus Blogging”… what’s the diff? What is “Literary Journalism”? Is that you? What else…
* “The Muse” … Why do I write? You might as well ask me why I breathe. Here’s a BONUS link and another one
* Ek Hornbeck: “It’s Hard Out Here for a Pimp” … blogmotion, promotion… getting it read.
Just ideas. I couldn’t actually write any of those myself. I’m here to learn. heh. (I just like to organize shit! lol)
Anyway, just go for it. Mostly it’s meant to be fun.
(my email is ladylibertine22 AT yahoo DOT com)
P.S. We’ll have to see if we can figure out a way to lure OPOL out of hiding and some of our other Blog Lords. Hmmmph.

ek hornbeck started it…!
~~~partially plagiarized from a very good friend in high school, but he wouldn’t care and, besides, it’s 60 years ago.
How many “Jumbo Shrimp” can you find? (in the typical report from today’s media?)
oh how ‘moronic’!
If only I were not such a “struggling writer” …
lol
I loved your wizard from yesterday.
How about something like this?
I’ll be happy to contribute an essay on blog promotion as I have some very strong opinions about it.
But I’ll also be busy as I expect I’ll have to cover TDS/TCR as most of the other diarists who cover will all be at NN (though I do expect they’ll participate in comments).
maybe Im crazy but I love doing stuff like this. I think I missed my calling!
The beginning of moving is proving to be a pain.
run with something truly restrictive, like, writing without the letter ‘e’.
Though it may sound crazy, you’ll find that you start picking and choosing words you hadn’t thought of – that is, you start following paths that normally don’t occur in your work, you stop using stock idioms and/or boring formulations, you find that you use words that you usually wouldn’t so you can avoid an ‘off-limits’ word, and so on (or simply: “If you can’t say what you normally would, you must say what you normally wouldn’t”). I know it sounds nuts, but this was how Oulipo (link) got its group to approach writing with originality: this approach actually sparks your imagination. Y’all should try it out: it’s a lot of fun, and you may find it fruitful.
