I guess when you run a hate organization, you have to keep the perceived horrors involving what you hate in the news in order to keep those donations rolling in. I mean, the hate down’t pay for itself!
It must be really painful when this sort of stuff backfires.
Case in point. People have noticed the recent stories about the Girl Scouts’ policy on transgender girls. That’s not really news. The policy goes back to 2011 when Colorado trans kid Bobby Montoya wanted to join. After Bobby was first humiliated by he local troop leader, the Girl Scouts of Colorado announced,
Girl Scouts is an inclusive organization and we accept all girls in Kindergarten through 12th grade as members.
If a child identifies as a girl and the child’s family presents her as a girl, Girl Scouts of Colorado welcomes her as a Girl Scout.
As I reported back then, girls all over the country expressed their support.
The wingers declared a cookie boycott.
But now that the news is filling up with better stories about transgender people and our lives, the Haters felt it was necessary to strike back.
So what did the American Family Association do? Slander the trans girls, of course.
They initiated a petition under the headline Girl Scouts of America policy change: Boys dressing as girls can join.
Calling the trans girls “boys” is calculated to strike at those girls confidence and self esteem. Moreover, the petition brands those trans girls as sexual predators:
This means girls in the organization will be forced to recognize and accept transgenderism as a normal lifestyle. Boys in skirts, boys in make-up and boys in tents will become a part of the program. This change will put young innocent girls at risk.
Adults are willing to experiment on our kids – both the boys who are confused and the girls who will wonder why a boy in a dress is in the bathroom with them.
What they fear, of course, is a generation arising which does not view trans kids as evil.
So they have enticed nearly 39K people to agree with the statement that the Girl Scouts has “lost its moral compass.”
Andrea Bastiani Archibald is Chief Girl Expert for GSUSA. She responded:
The Meaning of “Serving All Girls”
Girl Scouts has valued and supported all girls since our inception in 1912. There is not one type of girl. Every girl’s sense of self, path to it, and how she is supported is unique.
The foundation of diversity that Juliette Gordon Low established runs throughout Girl Scouting to this day. Our mission to build “girls of courage, confidence, and character, who make the world a better place” extends to all members, and through our program, girls develop the necessary leadership skills to advance diversity and promote tolerance.
If a girl is recognized by her family, school and community as a girl and lives culturally as a girl, Girl Scouts is an organization that can serve her in a setting that is both emotionally and physically safe. Inclusion of transgender girls is handled at a council level on a case by case basis, with the welfare and best interests of all members as a top priority.
As we face a complex and rapidly changing 21st century, our nation needs all girls to reach their full potential, which has been our focus for more than 103 years.
Translation: Stuff it, AFA!
It’s not like the right wing has its own house in order.
If they really want to track down sexual predators, they should look to their own leadership, such as Josh Dugger, recently resigned from his position of Executive director of Family Research Council Action, the political arm of the FRC.
FRC had this to say:
Today Josh Duggar made the decision to resign his position as a result of previously unknown information becoming public concerning events that occurred during his teenage years. Josh believes that the situation will make it difficult for him to be effective in his current work. We believe this is the best decision for Josh and his family at this time. We will be praying for everyone involved.
–Tony Perkins
Is Duggar’s sexual abuse of minor girls condemned? Not in that statement. But transgender girls are continually condemned, accused of that behavior, when there is no evidence they ever do it.
Of course, condemning people is what AFA and FRC do best. AFA’s Bryan Fischer is calling for Townhall political editor Guy Benson to be fired because he came out as gay.
Gay conservative is an oxymoron.
He seems dedicated to do his part to … turn the GOP into a sodomy-promoting political machine
Meanwhile AFA’s Sandy Rios isn’t actually saying that Amtrack engineer Brandon Bostian crashed that train because he was gay. She just finds it “interesting.”
Now I am not saying, I am not inferring to those of you that are gay rights activists and like to monitor this show, I’m not inferring that this accident happened because he was gay, but I do think it’s an interesting part of the story and you can bet it would be edited out.
I would say this. I know of at least one situation – and I don’t know if this relates to Brandon in any way – but if people are going through some confusion that has to do with the very core of who they are, like, for instance, someone I know who was a pilot for a very large airline who started taking hormone shots to change genders, and put his entire plane at risk because he had an emotional, angry outburst to something that happened, and he was suspended for a very long time and then reinstated. So, I don’t know, but I think it is something to be discussed and I think it’s a factor and I’m doubting you will hear it anywhere else.

…both AFA and FRC have been listed as anti-gay hate groups by the SPLC.
