SEATTLE — A man has died after being shot in the head in the city’s Leschi neighborhood on Wednesday night.
Police said the victim was sitting in a car with two others when he got into an argument with another man. That man went into a home in the 800 block of 32nd Avenue South, came back out with a gun and opened fire around 8:30 p.m.
The suspected gunman fled the scene, detectives said, and is believed to have run inside a house in the 700 block of 31st Avenue South. Officers surrounded the home and tried to communicate with the man for several hours, but received no response.

Every American should be forced to watch this video
Crossposted at Dkos under the title “Make the bad man stop” (alternate version)
Thanks for the bump up, Ek!
During WWII American soldiers went into the German towns and forced the towns folk to look upon the horror and suffering that had taken place in their midst. They were not permitted to look away. They were forced to see what had been done by others such as they.
Today in America we need to do the same thing. Please watch this video and then e-mail it to someone else. We can not allow crimes such as these to go unpunished.
If we do not investigate the Bush/Cheney Administration, we cease to be America.

JTP: “Why hasn’t he been strung up?”
Crossposted at daily kos
He’s baaaaaaaaaaacccckkkk.
and dumber and more dangerous than ever.
Americans for Prosperity, one of the wingnut welfare outfits behind the Great Teabagging, held an event in Wausau, Wisconsin yesterday, keynoted by the man who best personifies the Teabagging movement.
Referring to Sen. Chris Dodd, D-Conn., more than once, Wurzelbacher asked, “Why hasn’t he been strung up?”
Murder. Sam Wurzlebacher is calling for murder.

Hypocrisy Watch: Excuses By Fundies, The Death of A Doctor
cross-posted from The Dream Antilles
My wonderful phone company, Credo, sent me the following:
“Tiller the Baby Killer.”
That’s how FOX News host Bill O’Reilly referred to Dr. George Tiller who was murdered in cold blood Sunday while he attended church.
Tiller’s crime? He provided healthcare to women. Including abortion.
Salon.com reports that FOX’s “O’Reilly Factor” has featured attacks on Dr. Tiller on no less than 28 episodes:
“He’s guilty of “Nazi stuff,” said O’Reilly on June 8, 2005; “a moral equivalent to NAMBLA and al-Qaida,” he suggested on March 15, 2006. “This is the kind of stuff happened in Mao’s China, Hitler’s Germany, Stalin’s Soviet Union,” said O’Reilly on Nov. 9, 2006.
What happened Sunday was devastating. And it might not have happened if it wasn’t for the hate mongering of Bill O’Reilly and others.
There are two things you can do.
1. Sign our petition to Bill O’Reilly. Ask him to take responsibility for creating an atmosphere in which the assassination of Dr. George Tiller comes as no surprise. And tell him to stop spreading hateful rhetoric which encourages violence against doctors who provide reproductive healthcare for women.
2. Make a donation to Medical Students for Choice in honor of Dr. George Tiller. We must lift up a new generation of doctors who are willing and able to provide reproductive healthcare to women.
This Epistle to the Subscribers made sense to me. I signed petitions and I sent $$. I thought about it. It made sense, sort of: Billo spews garbage, crazy persons ingest garbage, garbage in garbage out, crazy person kills doctor who provides abortions. So it might go. But, alas, it didn’t make that much sense, because if somebody believes that the life of a fetus is precious, how much more precious is the life of a doctor? Even a doctor who allegedly commits cardinal sins. Have we gone insane, I wondered.

Iraq Vet in Pennsylvania Murders……
Was Radically Changed by War and PTSD
PTSD sufferers can’t always leave the war behind.
Sergeant Nicholas Horner and his Wife
Tragedy and war-inspired Post Traumatic Stress Disorder can meet like a head on crash when the nation’s care providers at the Veterans Administration, notorious for lies and deceit, deny our combat veterans the care they need.
This story of deadly, senseless shootings in Altoona, Pennsylvania April 6th is possibly the most tragic story I have ever reported, and if it isn’t, it is among the very worst.

The body of a young woman found Wednesday morning was identified as Eve Marie Carson, the student body president of UNC Chapel Hill, police said Thursday.
Carson, 22, of Athens, Ga., was found shot several times, at least once in the head, around 5 a.m. Wednesday at the intersection of Hillcrest Drive and Hillcrest Circle. Carson was a Morehead scholar and a senior at the university.
Stanford University called about Jamiel Shaw a week or so ago, intrigued by the slight but speedy running back for Los Angeles High School, the Southern League’s most valuable player last year. Rutgers University called a few days later.
The Shaw family already had reason to be proud. Jamiel’s mother, Army Sgt. Anita Shaw, was on her second tour of duty in Iraq.
On Sunday night, it was Jamiel’s father on the phone and then his son’s girlfriend, Chrystale Miles. Jamiel Sr. called to tell him to hurry home from the mall. The 17-year-old boy was three doors away when someone shot him to death while he was still talking on his cellphone to Chrystale, friends say.
Jamiel Sr. heard the shots almost as soon as he hung up. He ran out of the house, raced around the corner and found his son lying on the sidewalk, bleeding.
“She’s over there trying to protect us from guns and bombs, and then she has to hear that her son is dead over here,” he said of Anita on Monday. “I’ve got my own personal Iraq now.”
