On Tuesday March 4 voters in Brattleboro, VT will vote on a non-binding resolution calling for the following:
“Shall the Selectboard instruct the Town Attorney to draft indictments against President Bush and Vice President Cheney for crimes against our Constitution, and publish said indictment for consideration by other municipalities? And shall it be the law of the Town of Brattleboro that the Brattleboro Police, pursuant to the above-mentioned indictments, arrest and detain George Bush and Richard Cheney in Brattleboro if they are not duly impeached, and extradite them to other authorities that may reasonably contend to prosecute them.”
According to the organizers the resolution a largely symbolic gesture. One organizer wrote, “it was born simply out of the devastating realization that our Constitution and entire system of government were – and still are – under assault, and that such extraordinary circumstances sometimes call for extraordinary measures.” Now organizers claim the initiative now has real legal teeth. How legal is it?

The title comes from an op/ed published in Sundays Seattle Post Intelligencer.
Americas Founding Fathers no fools they understood that humans were flawed and will always be flawed. So, in constructing the foundations that would become the Republic of the United States of America they included provisions within the constitution which gave the legislative branch the right to remove from public office those officials which had violated official ethics standards or the law it self.
Given that as a starting point isn’t it a reasonable assumption that when an elected official or officials deliberately obstruct the Constitution and the Bill of Rights that the legislative branch would take upon themselves to not only investigate the violations but initiate impeachment proceedings if the allegations are proven to be true? Yet the legislative branch and its leaders have failed in their responsibilities as elected officials to represent the citizens of the country who elected them.
Leadership and the responsibilities that come with it are difficult if it were not then anyone could be chosen to lead. No matter ones party affiliation your allegiances are not to the party or its supporters its to the Constitution. I know this has been said a thousand times but the oath office does not say “I will preserve protect and defend my right to hold power and my political party.” It does say Preserve protect and defend the Constitution of the United States from all enemies both foreign and domestic.

An update to this earlier essay, the UK Judge reviewing AN INCONVENIENT TRUTH in response to a lawsuit brought by a Dover truck driver, as determined that the film will be allowed in schools as long as the teacher do not endorse it.
I can see it now. ‘Hey, lads, watch this film but don’t ask me what I think of it, as I am only your professor…’

Oh the old intertubes aren’t working very well at casa del Nightprowlkitty, but hopefully I’ll get this posted in time. If I don’t comment right away, you’ll know why.
Does anyone else share the feeling I have today, a feeling of something impending? Because I don’t have anything to say about current events or culture or even personal anecdotes. I feel a sense of apprehension. And of course it’s about America.
I think even the boys at the big blogs are now aware that business is not as usual. We’ve even got kos yelling at the Democrats over their incomprehensible behavior when it comes to opposing this misAdministration.
Something has changed. August was the lull before the storm. Folks all over the country are waiting for someone to pull the plug on these criminals. Everyone agrees they are criminals, everyone knows they want to take us into a world of unending war, unending governmental incompetence, unending theft and corruption. That’s simply how they operate. They don’t know how to do anything else.
And now we are all awaiting a report by David Petraeus and everyone already knows the White House has rewritten it, everyone knows this misAdministration is doing its best to discredit the GAO’s report, shout down any dissent on what is going on in Iraq. And here we sit, wondering what’s going to happen.
This isn’t like Viet Nam. We’re older and wiser now. We see this happening in real time, all of us. It’s strange and surreal in so many ways.
