Pony Party: Won’t Get Fooled Again

Pony Partial – Another Bailout

Over the past few days I’ve seen both new and long time (six months?)commenters remark how this is the site for reasonable adults and calm discourse and reflection and sensitivity etc.  Well, don’t look for that shit in this one.

If that’s what you’re looking for, stay on the Front Page or read the other Totally Excellent Recent and Recommended Essays.

Once again ms. moneysmith has enlisted her e-loveslave to do the Tuesday evening Pony Party.  Her reason this time was kind of vague, it may have something to do with this:

http://www.hkex.com.hk/news/hk…

because she had to fly to Hong Kong.

Besides the Pony Party, she left me a list of other things to take care of: Paint a couple rooms, dust the plants, scrub the floors, do the laundry, weed the yard, reset all the flagstone, and walk the dogs twice a day. Plus she has me on a strict diet of fruit juice and protein powder, and insists on an exercise program for me.

All of this is kind of difficult attached to the dog-collar and cable and stuff, so doing the Pony Party is actually kind of a break for me.

While I was cleaning the tile grout with a toothbrush (mine) I thought I might need a little pick-me-up, so I, once again, hearkened back to my youth and thought of Joe Walsh.

The James Gang got their start in Cleveland, my home town. I don’t think anyone ever accused Joe of being too serious either.

Pony Party: Pickle Architecture

Well, hello there! I hope y’all are wearing the Green o’ the Irish!

Happy St Pickles Day! Lovely day to wear green, eh?

Today may be St Paddy’s day, but every day is a day for Green! And what could be more green than a pickle? Hmmm?

So, how about the Gherkin building:

Who knew I’d be immortalized in a building? This calls for the Party Pickle!

The movers were here. Mostly everything made it. Movers were great guys.

I’m drinking wine.  I’m exhausted.  I can’t think of anything else.

What’s going on with you… and yes, I know the pony is late.

Don’t rec the pony…

Pony Party: Beat It!

The ponies are here prematurely, but there’s a good excuse (later, promise!). A little emergency here, but no worries — wrangling is being provided by the thoroughly Pony-proof  nocatz. Meanwhile, enjoy the drum circles, bring your own bongos and trust me when I say this will all make sense very soon. Or not. Who knows? KTXLUVYABAI!!

Pony Party: Windows Haiku

Hi all. I hope your weekend was better than mine. My computer is completely on the fritz. It blue-screened about ten times on Saturday, despite Check Disk saying all was fine. So, I don’t know if I can host this afternoon’s Pony Party. I’ll try, though!

So, in light of my computer disaster, might I offer up some Windows haiku. This is a modification of a Windows haiku I saw in the 90s, which referred to NT.

Windows XP crashed

I saw the blue screen of death

No one hears my screams

Everything’s Got ‘Em

Pony Party: Memphis in May

Got nothing to do during the first week of May? Consider the Beale Street Music Festival. It actually is NOT on Beale Street but on the grounds of Tom Lee Park. It isn’t strictly a “blues festival” either, probably because it didn’t make enough money so there are pop and rock acts.

Have a look at the line up here. I am planning to see  the following for certain: Keb’mo, Pintetop Perkins, Michael Franti, Aretha Franklin. In general how it works is that there is a smaller “Blues tent” and I have rarely seen a bad performer there. There is a stage with music that is retro/classic/R&B ( think middle aged people)and a stage for young people that generally showcases local rap/rock/whatever groups.

It always rains or it is unseasonably hot and you get a sun burn, and by the third day it has a nasty smell. Beale street is always a zoo beyond zoos during the festival. Traffic which is not bad in Memphis as a rule is horrible, parking will be expensive.

However, if you were interested in coming, I have a floor you could crash on. In the past I have seen great performances from: Chaka Khan, Jerry Lee Lewis, Preston Shannon, B-52s, Parliament, John Legend, Black Crowes, a bunch of bluesmen/women I was not familiar with.

I will also treat for ribs and/or BBQ and drag you to a local tourist spot.

You don’t even really have to hang out with me the whole time because I am on the geeky side and I don’t actually live in Memphis but a quick drive in.

Please don’t rec pony party, hang out and chit chat and then go read one of the excellent offerings on our recent and rec’d list.
