Is This The Dole God??

On a visit over to VetVoice in an open thread there was a reply with this link that you should visit, which had this photo:

We are going to intercede at the site of the statue of the bull on Wall Street to ask God to begin a shift from the bull and bear markets to what we feel will be the ‘Lion’s Market,’ or God’s control over the economic systems. While we do not have the full revelation of all this will entail, we do know that without intercession, economies will crumble.

Jesus and John McCain

Some days I feel like I’m living in Bizarro World.  I’m reading the news from the usual sources, and I come across this beaut from ajc.com, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

“John McCain is kind of like Jesus Christ on the cross,” Everhart said as she began the second day of the state GOP convention. “He never denounced God, either.”

John McCain is like Jesus?  Really?  uh… in what way?

Let’s see here.

Jesus on peace and war: blessed are the peacemakers.

John  on peace and war:  bomb bomb bomb, bomb bomb Iran.

Jesus on marriage: May they be brought to complete unity to let the world know that you sent me and have loved them even as you have loved me.

John  on marriage: At least I don’t plaster on the makeup like a trollop, you cunt.

Jesus on sacrifice: go, sell whatsoever thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come, follow me.

John  on sacrifice: Since the beginning of their marriage, Senator McCain and Mrs. McCain have always maintained separate finances.  As required by federal law and Senate rules, Mrs. McCain has released significant and extensive financial information through Senate and Presidential disclosure forms.  In the interest of protecting the privacy of her children, Mrs. McCain will not be releasing her personal tax returns.

Jesus on respect:  do unto others as you would have them do unto you.

John  on respect:  Why is Chelsea Clinton so ugly?  Janet Reno is her father.

You get the idea.  Feel free to add your own observations.  Add your own spiritual advisor, deity, or scientific principle in comparison to the Maverick.  Have some fun.  Otherwise, in Bizarro World, we’ll all go mad and O.D. on Woolite.

Sparking Real Religious Dialog?

This ought to really raise the ire of condemnation within the Fundamentalist Christian Community,

especially as practiced in the U.S..

Dialog already started

So This Was Christmas

This isn’t about the following song most know, some understand.

Happy Xmas (War Is Over)

A song I kept hearing, over and over each day almost hourly, as my coworkers wanted to listen to Christmas music at the jobsite, so we switched channels, and the canned programming played this a number of times. I kept wondering if there was a message there or if whoever made up the program list really knew what the song was about, or if it was just about Lennon singing about Christmas, much like the Reagan campaign took to ‘Born in the USA’ as their own, remember that, nobody apparently knowing the words to!

Some call me Jesus

NOTE:  Reading Kid Oakland’s beautiful diary yesterday (which is still on the rec list at dkos as I write this) made me think of this diary originally posted September 3rd, 2006.  Given the timeliness I hope you will forgive the repost.  ~ OPOL

Some call me Jesus…

Others call me Yeshua, others the Son of Man.  By any name I am who I am.

Lately it has come to my attention that I have been swiftboated by a gang of lowly sinners who march under the banner of the Christian Right.  They have obfuscated my teachings and associated my name with the terrible sins of war profiteering, torture, and the dropping of bombs on innocents and children.  And those are just the beginnings of their transgressions.  With your permission, I would like to take this opportunity to set a few things straight.

DISCLAIMER:  Please forgive my hubris.  No offense is intended to anyone’s religion, or lack thereof – just a little creative channeling of the Blessed Redeemer on a Sunday morning (actually, just a few things I’ve been wanting to get off my chest re: the ‘Religious Right’).  Any heresy or error included herein is my own.  I don’t really speak for the Creator – or his family.  Oh, and apologies to pastordan for veering recklessly into his territory.  ~ OPOL  ðŸ™‚

(more below the fold…)

Jesus wept, he was laughing so hard

Jesus sighed.

He reached over and turned the radio up. He couldn’t believe what he was hearing. “Freedom requires religion”? “Religion requires freedom”? WTF was this pendejo saying?

Right, you stupid guero, Jesus thought. Just like the freedom the Afghans had under the Taliban. Or the Jews had under the Inquisition. And “religion requires freedom”? What the heck? What was it that all those Jews in the camps were practicing?

Jesus shook his head.

Would it never stop? Would these pinche politicians ever quit using so-called “religion” to sell their weaselly lies?
