Christine O’Donnell is fast becoming the face of the Republican Party. Her campaign slogan is — to put it in Marxist language — power to the people. Or, something like that. To quote an oft-used phrase on the internet(s) and one used frequently on this blog, “Teh stoopid! It burns.”

If Republicans got their Way … there would be no more Medicare.
If Republicans got their Way … you couldn’t Retire until 70.
If Republicans got their Way … they’d privatize Social Security.
If Republicans got their Way … there would be no more Corporate income tax.
If Republicans got their Way … they’d eliminate taxes on Capital gains.

Washington – Pandercrats in Congress are poised to play a leading role this month in thwarting their party’s effort to raise votes for the incumbents.
A small but growing number of Moderate Pandercrats are balking at boosting taxes on the rich, now that there has been a sufficient gain of numbers of poor to please Wall Street. Many who are retiring anyway or floundering in the polls, face electorates who are planning their retirement going away parties already, and are anticipating a nice slice of cake. Some represent areas that were loaded with empty foreclosed on sprawlburban mansions, some are reluctant to increase the feeling of voting obligation on anyone while the old 2008 party platform isn’t quite officially ready for the alien autopsy yet.
“The voter’s will is very weak right now. Voting could lower consumer demand for means tested results, at a time when we want people putting more votes into the other party” said Sen. Evan Bye, who is auditioning to become a lobbyist.
“We still expect to have an election at some point in November,” Reed spokesman Bib Man Lee said. “Whether Republicans will allow them to vote for anyone is a whole other story.”
The speaker and the president have been clear they want to extend the middle class tax cuts, but because there is no middle class anymore, they have indicated a willingness to compromise to make the final lame duck session a time of bipartisanship cameraderie.
Rep. Gerald Connolly, DINO -Va., represents the northern Virginia suburbs of Washington, one of the nation’s wealthiest districts. Median family income there in 2008 was $117,892, well above the national average of $63,211. He said that repealing the top rates would have political consequences.“Sometimes we forget how we became the majority. We did it by winning some affluent districts,” he said.
“The general rule of thumb is that you do not raise taxes or cut spending during an economic downturn. That would be counterproductive,” (Sen. Kent) Conrad, (DINO ND) said.
… at a Kansas City fundraiser in July, (senate candidate) Robin Carnahan (DINO MO) said last week that she wanted to extend the Bush tax cuts for everyone.
“Now is not the time to raise taxes,” she said.

Aug 25, 2010 – Washington’s U.S. Senate race heated up Wednesday as Sen. Patty Murray and challenger Dino Rossi battled over veterans’ care and spending. A KOMO News story ignited controversy after a Rossi supporter and veteran Deryl McCarthy told KOMO it was time to take a much closer look at spending, including money aimed at helping veterans.Murray’s campaign seized the moment by issuing a statement that said, “Following KOMO News’ report yesterday that Dino Rossi’s campaign believes our country is ‘spending recklessly’ on the Veterans Administration, U.S. Senator Patty Murray and veterans from around the state will hold a conference call with reporters this afternoon to call on Rossi to explain his campaign position and define which VA services need to be cut.”
Murray held that call on Wednesday.

There are two very important, and full of real facts, op-ed’s in the San Francisco Gate this Sunday morning that should be read and absorbed.
We hear very little, actually almost nothing, about the present costs, nor long term costs, of our long occupations of choice. Especially by those that held the power and readily rubber stamped what their same political party administration wanted. Nor did they feel much need in holding congressional hearings, investigations nor much oversite, not much heard when reports of billions just went poof nor when private contractors on their no bid contracts kept wasting money on shoddy work and much more, while they held the power. They weren’t the only ones, even their supporters and talking heads readily supported everything they did and didn’t do.

I. Summary
The Roadmap for America’s Future, which Rep. Paul Ryan (R-WI) – the ranking Republican on the House Budget Committee – released in late January, calls for radical policy changes that would result in a massive transfer of resources from the broad majority of Americans to the nation’s wealthiest individuals.[1]
The Roadmap would give the most affluent households a new round of very large, costly tax cuts by reducing income tax rates on high-income households;
eliminating income taxes on capital gains, dividends, and interest;
and abolishing the corporate income tax, the estate tax, and the alternative minimum tax.
At the same time, the Ryan plan would raise taxes for most middle-income families,
privatize a substantial portion of Social Security,
eliminate the tax exclusion for employer-sponsored health insurance,
end traditional Medicare and most of Medicaid,
and terminate the Children’s Health Insurance Program.

The current mantra in the conservative circles of California government is those darn employees with their “cadillac pensions and benefits”. When painted with a broad brush, as the story goes, its these same government employees that are bankrupting the state and local municipalities.
In order to combat a crushing budget deficit of $450,000 the City of Maywood last month planned to layoff all of its employees and outsource its operations to a neighboring community.
Maywood, a small working-class community south of downtown Los Angeles, plans to lay off all its employees, disband its Police Department and turn over its entire municipal operations to a neighbor – an action that appears to be without precedent among California cities.
Maywood a largely hispanic community has a population of 28,991 people. Maywood’s cost of living is 13.60% Higher than the U.S. average. The unemployment rate in Maywood is 18.20 percent.
So who was handling city services for Maywood?

In case you missed it the stock market lost about a 1000 points a few days ago — all in a matter of minutes.
It was in “free fall” — market traders were bailing left and right.
With the Greek Euro Debt crisis, serving as a back-drop — Stock Prices in rapid decline, was the last thing Institutional Fund managers wanted to see. Kind of makes you want to sell ‘before it’s too late’ too.
Many of them did.
But then almost magically, the stock market fall slowed, paused, and then begun a similarly rapid return. The bungee chord dynamic, reached its limit — and thankful — rebounded.
But what if next time, the Market gets spooked like that, and goes into a cascade of frenzied selling … what if the next time …
It just keeps falling ? say goodbye to those 401k and Pension funds [if you haven’t already, that is].

Easy — thanks to Derivatives and CDO’s (Collateralized Debt Obligation).
For the mere Price of Admission, those unseen Investor’s get to divvy up your Mortgage Payments, among themselves — long as they “promise to pay off” that Debt, WHEN, for whatever reason, you are no longer able to make those Obligatory Payments …
